Rev. Beth Hoffmann.
Greetings,
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you from The Church of the Epiphany in Durham, CT. If you are searching for a church home, we'd love to have you worship with us. We are entering into a new phase of our lives together. Epiphany has a long history in the community that dates back to 1794. About thirty years ago, the parish entered into a cluster ministry ' sharing leadership and clergy with four other Episcopal parishes. Then in 08, after a year of intense self-study and discernment, Epiphany made the decision to step out in faith and become an independent Episcopal parish. The whole parish pulled together and made a strong commitment to the spiritual health and growth of Epiphany. The commitment meant entering into the search process for a priest to lead the parish, and that's where I come in. I was called as vicar of the parish in April 08.
At Epiphany there are many ways to get to know people. We've included some information on this website about our groundbreaking Sunday School program called Workshop Rotation. Children are our most important assets, and we have 'pulled out the stops' to have a church school that is innovative and exciting. Last summer many families pulled together to redecorate our church school space so that it is bright, creative and 'kid-friendly.' The results are spectacular. The workshop rooms include an up-to-date computer lab, a cinema with a large screen TV, a beautiful temple room for stories and a snazzy game room. You can take a virtual tour of these rooms on this website.
We also have an active Youth Group, and I urge you to explore this website where you will find information about of programs for older children and youth. Their activities this year include a trip to New York City to spend the night at St. John the Divine, service at a local soup kitchen, monthly meetings and planning and participating in an entire church service several times a year. They are also active in work with our younger students in Workshop Rotation too.
We hope you'll share our excitement about Epiphany. We're very proud of our ministries. Outreach to people who are in need is very much a part of our lives together. In fact, there are many opportunities for adults and teens to make a difference in the community and the world through service. We contribute both time and treasure to Episcopal Relief and Development, St. Vincent DePaul's, The Children's Home, Amazing Grace Food Pantry and the Connecticut Food Bank, the Durham Fuel Assistance Program and to other agencies in Durham.

God bless you, The Rev. Beth Hoffmann (Mother Beth) Vicar
